Two passport rules do catch people out, so check both before you book a flight: your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years on the day you arrive, and it must have at least 3 months left on the day you fly home. The EU is also phasing in ETIAS, an online travel authorisation similar to the American ESTA, which will apply to British visitors but is not a visa.
