Why Bucharest
Direct flights into Bucharest Otopeni (OTP) from London, Manchester, Dublin, Rome, Paris and 100+ other cities, often under £50 return on Wizz Air or Ryanair.
Romania has been in the EU since 2007. Clinics follow the same device regulations and sterilisation directives as Germany or France, and dentistry is one of the country’s strongest medical exports.
Four-star hotels from about £60 a night, the Old Town, Herăstrău park and Therme Bucharest between appointments. Most patients save more than the whole trip costs.
Questions
If yours isn’t here, WhatsApp us and a coordinator replies the same day.
Romania is an EU member state, so clinics operate under the same EU medical device regulations and sterilisation standards as the UK, Germany or France. Our dentists are registered with the Romanian dental college (CMSR), and your treating dentist’s name and registration number come with your treatment plan, so you can verify them in the official register before you book.
Typically 60-75% on implants, crowns and full arch work, even after flights and hotel. Veneers are the honest exception, closer to a third less, because our veneer price already sits near the bottom of the UK range. The difference is cost of living, not corner-cutting: we use the same implant brands (Straumann, Oxy Implants) and the same zirconia and porcelain systems used in Western Europe. Every quote itemises the work so you can compare like for like.
Implant work carries a 10-year guarantee and other work 5 years. If an issue arises, we first assess it remotely with photos or a local X-ray. If it needs chair time, we treat it free of charge on a return visit, and in defined cases we contribute to travel costs. The guarantee terms are in writing in your treatment plan.
Veneers, crowns and whitening: one trip of 4-8 days. Implants: two shorter trips, three to four months apart, because the implant must fuse with the bone before the final tooth is fitted. All-on-4: fixed temporary teeth in the first trip, final bridge on the second. Some cases need an extra visit, usually where gum treatment or bone grafting has to happen first. If yours is one of them, your written plan says so from the start. You should never discover that you need another trip once you are already in the chair.
Yes, every clinician treating international patients consults in English, and your patient coordinator handles everything else in English from the first enquiry to the follow-up after you are home.
Yes, and you should never travel without one. Send the enquiry form, then share photos or a panoramic X-ray with us on WhatsApp or by email reply, and we return an itemised treatment plan and fixed quote, usually within one working day, plus a free video consultation with the dentist if you want it.
Direct flights reach Bucharest (OTP) in around 3 hours from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin, often for less than a UK train ticket. You pick the airline and times that suit you, and once you land the clinic is about 25 minutes away. Taxis and apps like Bolt and Uber are inexpensive, and we send clear directions with your appointment confirmation.
No. Romania is in the Schengen area and neither British nor Irish citizens need a visa for a treatment trip. A British passport allows up to 90 days in any 180 day period, far longer than any treatment plan requires, and Irish citizens travel under EU free movement with no limit. Two passport rules do catch people out, so check both before you book a flight: your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years on the day you arrive, and it must have at least 3 months left on the day you fly home. The EU is also phasing in ETIAS, an online travel authorisation similar to the American ESTA, which will apply to British visitors but is not a visa. Rules change, so confirm the current position on the UK government travel advice pages before you travel.
