Guarantee and aftercare
Evidence boundary: the durations and process below describe statements currently provided to this website. They have not been independently verified against the clinic’s current written terms. Ask for the complete terms and ensure the responsible provider, exclusions, maintenance rules, remedial care and travel costs appear in your signed treatment plan before paying.
Implant work carries a 10 year written guarantee and other work 5 years, and the terms travel with you: they are written into your treatment plan before you pay anything. This page explains what that means in practice once you are back in the UK, because a guarantee you cannot use from 1,500 miles away is a sticker, not a promise.
What the guarantee covers, and for how long
The guarantee covers the work itself: the implant, the restoration and the way they were placed. Implants, whether Straumann or Oxy, are guaranteed for 10 years. Crowns, veneers and other restorative work carry 5 years. The exact written terms live in your treatment plan, which means you hold them before any work begins and nobody is reciting conditions to you from memory after a problem appears. That order of events is the entire point of putting it in writing.
What happens if a problem appears at home, step by step
Step one: you contact us, by WhatsApp or email, from anywhere. Step two: we assess remotely, with photos or an X-ray taken at any local practice; a dentist reviews and replies, usually within one working day, and most concerns end here, because most concerns turn out to be healing behaving normally or something a short instruction resolves. Step three: if it genuinely needs chair time, we treat it free of charge on a return visit, and in defined cases we contribute to travel costs. What you never face is a premium rate helpline, a claim form designed to be abandoned, or a clinic that has stopped answering. The person who placed your teeth is the person who stands behind them.
What a guarantee cannot cover, anywhere
Honesty about the edges: no dental guarantee in any country covers new problems in teeth that were not treated, damage from accidents, or the consequences of skipping the hygiene and checkups every mouth needs. Guarantees cover workmanship and components, and they assume you hold up the ordinary end: clean the teeth, attend the follow ups, come back when asked. Any clinic promising cover for everything forever is telling you something about how carefully it chooses its words, which is worth knowing before it chooses them about your invoice.
How this compares with UK private work
UK private dentistry has no standard guarantee: cover varies by practice, commonly around a year on restorative work and longer where the practice chooses, and it is always worth asking your UK quote the same question you are asking ours; the GDC treatment-abroad guidance gives patients the same advice about treatment anywhere. The structural difference is not geography but writing: whoever treats you, at home or abroad, the useful guarantee is the one whose duration, scope and process you can read before paying. Ten years on implants and five on other work, in writing, is the standard we hold ourselves to; hold every quote you collect to whatever standard it puts in writing, and notice which ones put nothing.
Aftercare in practice: what you fly home with
Every follow up appointment during treatment is included in the fixed quote, and your plan sets out the check points for your case before you fly. You leave with your complete records, your X-rays and the implant traceability labels recording brand, reference and lot number, which means any UK dentist can see exactly what was done and with what, and can source matching components if they ever maintain the work. Routine hygiene and checkups at your local practice carry on as normal and do not affect the guarantee; they are part of keeping it.
Keeping the guarantee healthy
Three habits: keep your records where you can find them, keep up normal hygiene and local checkups, and contact us early rather than late when something feels off. Early photos of a small issue are the cheapest dentistry that exists. The guarantee process is built to reward exactly that: quick remote answers, so that the cases needing a flight stay rare.
Questions UK patients ask about the guarantee
Is dental work done abroad guaranteed at all?
It is wherever a clinic puts terms in writing, and it is not wherever the promise is verbal. Ours is written into the treatment plan you hold before paying: 10 years on implant work, 5 on other work, with the remote-first process described above.
Who fixes my tooth if an implant from Bucharest has a problem in the UK?
We do, under the guarantee: remote assessment first, then free chair time on a return visit if needed, with travel contribution in defined cases. Your UK dentist can handle routine care meanwhile, and your records and component labels give them everything they need for that.
Does seeing my UK dentist void anything?
No. Routine hygiene, checkups and ordinary care at home are expected, not penalised. The guarantee concerns the work we placed; keeping your mouth generally healthy is how you protect it.
Read how treatment in Romania is regulated, see the full numbers in the cost guide, or ask us anything directly; a dentist replies within one working day.
Sources and scope
The GDC advises patients to establish the guarantee period, aftercare, remedial treatment and responsibility for travel before treatment. It does not verify this clinic's stated terms. Only the clinic's current written terms in your signed treatment plan can do that.
