Dental costs: UK vs Bucharest
The same treatment, planned to the same EU rules, costs 36% to 77% less in Bucharest than in UK private practice. Those percentages are treatment prices, not travel packages: you book your own flights and hotel, and this page shows you the full sums including them, worked through honestly. Prices checked August 2026.

What does the from price mean?
A from price is the cost of the standard case: one implant with its abutment and zirconia crown, one veneer, one crown. Your written quote replaces it with your exact figure after a dentist has reviewed your photos or X-ray. Two things move a quote above the from price: extra work your mouth genuinely needs, such as an extraction, gum treatment or bone grafting before an implant, and material upgrades you choose yourself. Both appear as their own lines in the quote before you book anything. If a clinic anywhere quotes you one round number for surgery in another country, ask what happens to that number once they have actually looked at your teeth.
Three worked examples, travel included
One implant, one crown
Treatment: £560. Implants need two trips, three to four months apart, because the implant must fuse with the bone before the final tooth is fitted; each visit runs three to four days. Return flights from most UK airports are commonly under £100 each way, so plan £200 to £400 for both trips, and a comfortable central hotel typically adds £50 to £80 a night. Call it roughly £1,200 to £1,400 all in. Against a typical UK figure of £2,400 for the same implant, abutment and crown, a single implant usually lands at less than half the UK cost even after both trips. Worth doing, but this is the case where travel eats the biggest share of the saving.
Three implants across both jaws
Treatment: £1,680. The travel costs are the same as the single implant, two trips, because the work happens in the same visits. Roughly £2,300 to £2,500 all in, against about £7,200 at UK prices. That is a saving of about two thirds, and it shows the pattern that matters: flights and hotel are a fixed cost, so every additional tooth widens the gap. Multi-tooth cases are where Bucharest pricing does its real work.
All on 4, one arch
Treatment: £4,200 per arch. Two trips, four to six months apart: five days for the surgery and fixed temporary teeth, four days for the final bridge. With travel, plan around £5,000, against a typical £14,000 in UK private practice. You fly home from the first trip with fixed temporary teeth, not a gap, which is a detail worth checking with any provider in any country.
Why is dentistry cheaper in Romania?
Costs, not corners. Rent, salaries and laboratory fees in Bucharest are a fraction of London or Manchester levels, while the regulatory floor is the same: Romania is an EU member state, so clinics work under the same EU medical device regulation and sterilisation standards as the UK. The materials are the point of proof: implant cases here use Straumann and Oxy systems and Ivoclar zirconia, the same names you would be quoted on Harley Street. The one honest exception in the table is veneers, at closer to a third less rather than two thirds, because our veneer price already sits near the bottom of the UK range. The difference is cost of living, not corner-cutting.
What is included that UK quotes often price separately?
Our quotes cover the clinical side in full: consultations, X-rays and scans, the treatment itself, materials and every follow-up appointment, with no hidden extras. UK private quotes are often built the other way, with the consultation, CT scan and each review appointment billed as they happen, so compare the bottom line of a finished course of treatment, not the headline of a first appointment. Flights and accommodation stay in your hands here. You book directly, pay no agency markup, and choose the dates, airline and hotel that fit your budget.
How do you actually pay?
At the clinic, never before you travel. There is no deposit to send, nothing to transfer to hold a date, and we take no card details when you enquire. Payment is staged as the work progresses, so you settle each phase as it is finished rather than paying for a whole plan up front. Card or cash, in Romanian lei; the prices on this site are shown in pounds so you can compare them against UK quotes, and the invoice is issued in lei at the exchange rate on the day. A clinic in any country that wants a large transfer before it has examined you is answering a question you should be glad you asked.
When is flying to Bucharest not worth it?
Honestly: for a single filling, a hygiene visit or one small repair, it is not. The travel would cost more than the saving, and your local dentist is the right person for routine care. Whitening on its own is borderline at £165 versus about £450; it makes sense as an add-on to a bigger plan or to a trip you were taking anyway, which is exactly how our patients book it. Bucharest earns its flights on implants, full arch work, crowns in numbers and complete smile makeovers, where the gap runs into thousands.
How to compare quotes properly
Compare like with like: ask every clinic, UK or abroad, for an itemised written quote naming the implant system, the crown material, the number of visits and the guarantee terms. A headline price without those four things is not a quote, it is bait. Ours arrives itemised and fixed, within one working day of your photos, and it is checked by a dentist, not a salesperson.
Questions UK patients ask about cost
How much do dental implants cost in Bucharest?
From £560 per tooth including the implant, the abutment and the zirconia crown. The same combination is commonly quoted at £2,000 to £2,800 in UK private practice. Multi-implant cases keep the same travel costs, so the per-tooth saving grows with the size of the case.
Are the prices fixed once quoted?
Yes. After a dentist reviews your photos or X-ray, your itemised quote is fixed in writing before you book anything. The only route to a different number is a change you agree to in writing first. You should never discover a new cost once you are already in the chair.
Do flights and hotel wipe out the saving?
On big cases, no. The worked examples above include them: a three-implant case still saves about two thirds, All on 4 about £9,000 per arch. On a single small treatment, travel can wipe the saving, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a flight.
